Audrey & Mandy

We reside with an assortment of animals, and since Sydney the Brown was featured in a recent post, I thought I would introduce a few of the others.  Animals are a constant source of artistic & life inspiration to both Jeff and me, for their devotion, loyalty and antics.

Mandy the Mandiferous (above) came to us in her (and our!) mid-life after her original owner died.  That was about 20 months ago and she is a wonderful companion.  Recently recovering from a torn acl, and subsequent surgery ,I'm glad to report she is doing fine.  What I am not happy to report is that I didn't realize how arthritic she is.  I had been over-feeding her and didn't notice the weight gain.  At the same time I began over-exercising her thinking that 45 minute daily dogwalks could only be good for everyone. All of it no doubt contributed to her injury. I failed her, and yet she remains devoted to me, in the way so often witnessed in dog-love.

Audrey the cat moved into our house last October when her brother Moo died unexpectedly.  The two of them had been living in the 2 story office/ workshop behind our house that is Jeff's territory.  It was a good solution when we merged households last summer and because I have a cat allergy.  But when Moo died, it seemed too lonely to leave Audrey there alone, so she got a seat at the BIG table. Audrey is a sweet quiet cat, and I don't seem to be allergic to her!   She pretty much runs the show over here.  Oddly, she loves to lick guitar strings while they are being played.  In this shot she jumped up into my lap and started licking away when I started playing.  The picture below is by Jeff as well, Artsy Audrey.
